President / Senior Engineer

Mr. Wade is the President and co-founder of Arendell Engineers. He has worked in the consulting engineering business for over five years as a project civil engineer and project manager. He has developed specialties through experience in waterfront development, structural engineering of waterfront structures including bulkheads and docks, building system evaluation and analysis, environmental and municipal engineering including stormwater management and treatment, design of gravity and low pressure sewer collection systems, water distribution systems, streets and sidewalks, condition assessments of gravity sewer and administration of construction contracts. Mr. Wade’s clients have included developers, municipalities, property management firms, and homeowners associations.

Project History

Projects for which John has had responsible charge include (click to expand project detail):

Completed several renovation projects for the Homeowner’s Association ranging from $200,000 to $900,000. Determined scope of projects to be completed within the HOA’s budget. Provided specifications, bidding & negotiating services, and construction administration for the project.

Provided design, bidding, and construction administration services for replacement of unsafe oceanfront decks. Completed structural inspection of common stairwells to provide the Homeowner’s Association. Developed project scope for renovation work to townhome buildings.

Completed master plan for a neighborhood in town that experience significant flooding during periods of severe rainfall. Developed project package for the successful grant of a zero-interest loan from the State of North Carolina to complete the first phase. Coordinated with State environmental officials for use of existing golf course ponds to serve as wet detention ponds to provide treatment of stormwater prior to discharge to Bogue Sound.

Completed the environmental permitting for the construction of a waterfront community rowing center on an old fish factory site. Coordinated with local officials for the approval of the site plan.

Completed environmental permitting and construction plans for a 152’ extension of a timber public fishing pier. Provided bidding & negotiating and construction administration services for the Town.

Completed site development engineering for new sporting goods store including stormwater, water, & wastewater infrastructure.

Assisted with the development of a master plan for the Town of Morehead City’s waterfront. Worked with Town officials, business owners, and other interested parties to develop waterfront redevelopment plan.

Completed planning, stormwater permitting and site development engineering, for redevelopment of industrial fish oil and meal factory site to dry storage marina facility.

Completed site development engineering, for hotel, restaurant and residential development, public roadway improvements, stormwater management and treatment and gravity sewer collection and pumping facilities, and potable water utilities.

Completed planning and site development engineering for 303 slip dry storage building including grading and stormwater management, treatment, and erosion control design and permitting.
Completed construction documents for phase 2 of the 40 single family lots Moss Landing project including low pressure sewer collection systems, and grading stormwater management and erosion control predesign and permitting.

Completed design and preparation of plans and specifications for rehabilitation of groin and timber pier and Town of Morehead municipal park and boat launching facility.

Completed design and preparation of plans and specifications for rehabilitation of existing concrete bulkhead and reinforced concrete cap replacement.

Completed design and preparation of plans and specifications for rehabilitation of timber dock and berth for commercial head boat.

Prepared plans and Contract Documents and provided construction administration services for roof replacement for three condominiums buildings with new single ply membrane roof and drainage systems with over 72,000 square feet.

Provided construction administration services for project that included beach nourishment from an offshore borrow sources and removal and disposal of over 4000 sand bags from the beach front.

Assisted in the completion of an Environmental Assessment and in preparation of Major CAMA permit documents for marina and 1300 acres upland development project.

Prepared major CAMA permit documents and plans and contract documents for expansion of City of Washington Marina including timber docks and utilities.
