Junior Civil Engineer

Arendell Engineers, P.A. is seeking an initiative-taking, detail-driven Civil Engineer to join our amazing and growing team in Morehead City, NC. We are a multi-discipline professional services firm with specialized expertise in waterfront development, coastal and civil engineering; municipal and private utilities, building systems assessment and rehabilitation. In this role you will bring designs to life, producing high-quality plans, supporting project teams, and delivering precise, impactful CADD work across a variety of civil/site projects for beautiful Eastern Coast of North Carolina.

Candidates will have obtained a B.S.C.E. degree from an accredited civil engineering college and are pursuing professional registration by having either passed the FE exam or are preparing to take the exam.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and detail plans by analyzing sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach for the completion of drawings.
  • Work from sketches to produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays and isometric drawings including digital terrain models and surfaces.
  • Determine and calculate stormwater drainage areas and steep slope areas.
  • Conform to the company’s standard CADD procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts with parameters provided.
  • Work with numerous project teams to help with project completion.
  • Coordinate details and dimensions between drawing sheets.
  • Prepare project exhibits.
  • Will be required to calculate quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates.
  • Will be required to perform design computations, earthwork calculations and prepare complete construction plans.
  • Prepare CAD files for authorized media release to external parties / agencies.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of AutoCAD software, drafting standards, and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have interest in multiple civil engineering sub-disciplines. Arendell Engineers are problem solvers in areas of land development, stormwater management and hydraulic engineering, water and wastewater engineering and coastal and marine engineering.
  • Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience in site/civil, land development, and/or municipal engineering preferred.
  • Solid understanding and ability to adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Possess strong organizational and site management skills to effectively work with professionals from other fields, including subcontractors and architects.
  • Qualified candidates will have experience that includes: training and experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software and Microsoft Office Suite.
